The Singapore Street Circuit, originally named the Marina Bay Street Circuit, is located around the Marina Bay of Singapore. It is the venue for the Singapore Formula 1 Grand Prix and has a length of 5,076 km with 23 turns. The harbor side location is similar in style to the Monaco circuit and Valencia circuit. The Singapore Circuit hosts the Singapore Formula 1 Grand Prix.
The circuit’s layout is unique between turns 18 and 19 where the cars race underneath a section of grandstand of the Floating Platform. The original design for the circuit was proposed by Hermann Tilke but modified by KBR Inc. which was ultimately responsible for the built.
The Singapore Street Circuit used to be criticized a lot by drivers such as Fernando Alonso, Sebastien Bourdais and Lewis Hamilton for having an excessively bumpy surface and a too high chicane at Turn 10. In answer to this, FIA race director and safety delegate Charlie Whiting ordered the chicane at turn 10 to be modified.
